The Orascom Development International Fishing Tournament will feature 14 teams from around the world.

John Bichara

The first-ever international fishing tournament in El Gouna is about to set sail! Powered by El Gouna & Makadi, and organised by Red Sea Anglers, the Orascom Development International Fishing Tournament will feature 14 teams from around the world, all of whom are competing to catch the biggest and baddest fish in the Red Sea.

With four teams from Egypt, three each from Italy and Saudi Arabia, and one team from Lebanon, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, the competition is fierce. The tournament will test the anglers' skills as they venture out to sea on February 16th for two days of fishing.

The weigh-in and trophy ceremony will take place on the marina by the slipway on the 18th of February, after the boats return to shore. The anglers will then reflect on the challenges they faced and the skills they demonstrated as they're judged on the quality of their catch.

The competition has attracted some high-profile VIPs, including Massimo Brogna, IGFA President Europe & Mediterranean, Andries Maree, President of the South African Angling Federation, and Thamer Habis, CEO of the Saudi Arabia Water Sport & Diving Federation. With passions running high as our sails, the El Gouna international fishing tournament will be remembered as a testament to the beauty of the Red Sea and the sport of fishing.
