Great Pyramids of Giza to Host Half Marathon in December
With just over three months to go until the canon fires, there’s more than enough time to throw on those running shoes and start training for what could be the proudest achievement of your 2021.
A major art exhibition. A massive concert by iconic hip-hop stars. Throughout 2021, the Great Pyramids of Giza are set to stage some of Egypt’s biggest events. And if you want to put yourself front and centre at one such event, you’ve got until December 11th to train for the country’s most anticipated half-marathon yet.
Egyptian athletic events organiser, the TriFactory, are known for their marathons across the nation, as well as intense obstacle course competitions such as the Egypt edition of Tough Mudder. Now they’re accepting registrations for the Pyramids Half Marathon, where participants can choose to run five kilometres, 10 kilometres or the full 21 kilometres by the Great Pyramids of Giza. If you want to make history by running past history’s most iconic monuments, you’ve got three months to whip yourself into shape.
You can head to www.pyramidshalfmarathon.com to sign up for the half-marathon. If you register before September 8th, you’ll be able to pay their lowest price of EGP 500 ($31) before they raise the cost. For travellers entering Egypt, a negative PCR test must be presented upon departure that is no older than 72 hours.
