Marsa Alam Receives First Flights from Germany after COVID-19 Hiatus

Marsa Alam - a paradisiacal town on the western shores of the Red Sea - is about to receive the first flights from Germany following a year-long hiatus due to restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Marsa Alam International Airport received the Health Accreditation Seal for Safe Travel from the Airports Council International in March 2021, and was inspected by a German committee earlier this August. The first two flights will arrive at Marsa Alam International Airport on Saturday, September 4th, with more coming at a rate of six flights per week.

Known as a world-class diving and kite surfing destination, Marsa Alam is teaming with incredible house reefs featuring some of the most diverse sea life on Egypt’s shores (look out for the turtles and stunning stingrays!).  It’s also a short-drive from the famous Al-Nayzak meteor lake as well as the ethereal El Qulan Mangrove Forest within the Wadi El Gamal natural reserve.

All visitors entering Egypt, including nationals, must be in possession of a negative PCR test taken at a maximum of 72 hours before their flights.
