Gulf Air, the national air carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has launched its first flight to AlUla International Airport. The company will operate direct flights between Bahrain and AlUla twice a week, starting from February 3 to March 6, then from April 10 to April 27.

The Royal Commission for the AlUla Governorate aims to establish air connectivity with various international and local destinations, intending to transform AlUla into a global logistics hub in the northwest of the Kingdom.

Rami Al-Muallem, Deputy President for Tourism Destinations and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, stated: “We are pleased to welcome new visitors on their journey to AlUla, which is characterised by a cultural and tourism experience, and the inclusion of AlUla on Gulf Air’s main seasonal destinations for 2024 contributes to demonstrating what this historic destination has to offer to travellers.”

Over the past years, AlUla International Airport, which joined the list of international airports in March 2021, launched several projects that contribute to increasing the effectiveness of receiving travellers, as well as providing services to the people and visitors of AlUla. The total area of the airport has also expanded to approximately two million and 400 thousand square metres, and its flight deck has been designed to accommodate up to 15 aircraft at once.

Enhancing aviation operations and developing the airport’s infrastructure are in line with AlUla’s goals of welcoming two million visitors annually by 2035, representing a pioneering model for a practical and sustainable tourism strategy that ensures the continuity of the destination’s distinction in the future.
