Barefoot Luxury Hospitality Chain Our Habitas Opening New Qatar Resort
Opening its doors in January 2024, Ras Abrouq is a tranquil escape on the western coast of Qatar.
For a fusion of old and new, immemorial and trailblazing, modern-day Qatar is an easy paragon. In the capital of Doha, the cityscape is a tapestry, seamlessly woven with towering modern skyscrapers casting reflections upon ancient alleyways and bustling souks. It would make sense then, that for a country with a burgeoning modern scene, a conversely serene and secluded area would also exist to counter it.
One such contender is a remote spot on the western coast, reachable by car in a one hour drive from the capital. It is the place that Our Habitas has chosen for their new heavenly getaway: Ras Abrouq, opening its doors in January 2024.
Situated in the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Al Reem, where gazelles and oryxes run free and where limestone dunes and crystal-clear waters shape the landscape, this sanctuary blends signature wellness practices with stirring adventures, all set against the backdrop of the expansive desert and captivating sea.
At Ras Abrouq, the thrill of kitesurfing and the tranquillity of stand-up paddle board yoga come together with land-bound adventures such as mountain biking, desert expeditions, and invigorating hikes.
There are 42 luxurious villas in Our Habitas’ latest development, each graced with either partial or entirely uninterrupted vistas of the Arabian Gulf. With options ranging from one to four bedrooms, the place is crafted for unparalleled tranquillity. Every villa hosts one or more secluded plunge pools and an expansive outdoor deck.
Inside Ras Abrouq’s Lula Villa, wicker trays and carpets hang on the walls, swayed ever so lightly by the gentle ocean breeze coming through the sliding doors. Outside on the patio, the view of the sunset is reminiscent of a master artist's brushstrokes, painting the sky in hues of red and gold, as the horizon embraces the day's last kiss of light.
Ras Abrouq is also a place of rejuvenation, where visitors can relax with serene sunrise yoga, revitalising breathwork, and celestial sound ceremonies under the resplendent starry skies. Qissa, the heart of this sanctuary, offers a farm-to-table culinary journey, where guests commune over delectable dishes crafted from locally-sourced, farm-fresh ingredients. Be it the indoor elegance or the open-air vistas, every space encapsulates breathtaking panoramas of the ocean and the mesmerising evening sunsets, cultivating an ambiance of sheer splendour. In Ras Abrouq, time slows down, inviting travellers to immerse themselves in a world of sheer magical repose and unparalleled natural beauty.
