The Chedi Hegra is Opening Its Doors in AlUla This Year
The international luxury hotel brand is set to become the first hotel in AlUla’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra.
Chedi Hegra Luxury Hotel is set to become the first hotel in AlUla’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra. Already a renowned upscale hotel brand in Oman, Switzerland and the UAE, Chedi will be coming to the ancient Nabataean site in the north-west of the Kingdom, with the exact date yet to be announced by the Royal Commission for AlUla.
Each of the hotel’s 35 rooms will have its own distinct connection to the Hegra landscape, along with three fine-dining restaurants, a café, spa, and pool.
The hotel will be built directly into several existing structures, including an old railway station, Hegra Fort, and surrounding buildings. While modern architecture will be integrated, the vast majority of the UNESCO World Heritage Site will remain untouched by construction and will be carefully preserved.
AlUla was recently named one of the must-visit places in the world by Conde Nast Traveller, and has been described as "the Acropolis of our day, the Stonehenge of now". The site officially opened its doors to visitors in 2022, unveiling more than 200,000 years of Arabian history.
The Chedi Hegra hotel embodies the Journey Through Time masterplan, with its deep respect for heritage, sustainable design features, and authentic luxury experience that celebrates what makes AlUla a special destination for travellers seeking both comfort and adventure.
