Time Names Grand Egyptian Museum One of World’s Greatest Places in ‘26

The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, Egypt has been named one of TIME magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places of 2026”.

Since it’s official opening last November, the museum—which is the largest in the world dedicated to a single civilization—has been garnering global attention, playing a major role in the country breaking its tourist record with 19 million visitors in 2025.

Spanning 5.4 million square feet, overlooks the very muses that inspired its architecture, the Giza Pyramids, and houses over 100,000 artefacts, including the complete collection of Egypt’s most famous Boy King—Tutankhamun.
