Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse is Real, And Ken’s Renting It Out on Airbnb
You can be a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world.
It’s time to find your inner Kenergy! While Margot Robbie’s Barbie ventures out to find out the truth about the universe, you can enjoy life in plastic and ignore your very real responsibilities ahead of the theatrical release of Barbie this July. Leave your Birkenstocks at the door, you’re entering Dreamland.
As the crown jewel in what might be the most aggressive, comprehensive, and pink movie marketing campaign in recent memory, lucky Barbinators now have the opportunity to crash at Barbie’s Dreamhouse, as listed on Airbnb by Ken himself earlier this week. Someone’s got to keep an eye on the place while they’re away in the real world!
Yep, the DreamHouse actually exists, and it’s just as pink and plastic as you’d expect. Complete with a pool, disco roller rink, free reign of Ken’s beach wardrobe, and a take-home pair
Ken’s opening the doors of his girlfriend’s home for two lucky individuals to have a one-night stay, completely free of charge. From July 17, at 10:00 PT (20:00 EEST), hopeful prospective guests can request to book for a chance at a free vacation. According to his Airbnb listing, Ken couldn’t possibly put a price on life in the DreamHouse: “After all, Ken’s thing is beach, not math!”
In case you’ve been living on the moon or in any other such remote location for the past month, let us fill you in on the current Barbie-mania the world is experiencing. Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film follows Barbie and Ken as they venture out of the safe confines of their Malibu Dreamland into various scrapes and debacles in the real Malibu. The relentlessness of the project’s marketing department has not only caused us to think about Barbie for the first time since we were kids, but it also reportedly caused a global shortage of pink paint. Yes, global.
The Barbie Movie press circuit has been defined by the rapid Ken-ification of longtime Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling. All his talk of finding his ‘Kenergy’ has us wondering how we can locate ours - maybe the real-life adaptation of the legendary pink mansion is where we’ll find it.
