The world’s first floating mosque is set open in Dubai’s Water Canal. To be created at the cost of around AED 55 million, the mosque’s prayer hall will be able to accommodate between 50 to 75 worshippers at a time beneath the surface of the water.

The mosque is part of Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department’s project to promote religious tourism in the emirate.

Further plans will see Dubai create a 3D-printed mosque in Bur Dubai.
