Emirates Adds Electric Privacy Screens to Premium Economy Seats

New Airbus A350 seats introduce electrically operated dividers, wireless charging and upgraded 4K entertainment screens.

Scene Traveller

Emirates has unveiled a new premium economy seat for newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, introducing electrically operated privacy screens between seats in what the airline says is a first for the cabin class.

The new seats are also Emirates’ first fully electrically powered premium economy units. Passengers can raise or lower the divider between seats, lock it into position and adjust their seat using the same controls.

The A350 premium economy cabin will have 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout. Each seat is 20 inches wide, with a pitch of up to 39 inches, and reclines into a cradle position without moving into the space of the passenger behind. Preset modes include lounge and meal positions.

Other additions include a U-Dream leather headrest with adjustable wings, a manually operated leather footrest, wireless charging and USB-C ports. Tray tables also include an integrated phone holder, allowing passengers to use their device as a second screen.

Newly delivered A350s will also feature 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreens in premium economy, alongside additional exterior cameras showing views from both sides of the aircraft.
