Tourism to Saudi Arabia Exceeds Pre-Pandemic Levels With 156% Growth
Saudi Arabia led the G20 in terms of its increase in international arrivals, and was ranked the second growing tourist destination in the world during the first three quarters of 2023.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has experienced a massive jump in international arrivals since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a 156% increase in 2023 compared to 2019, according to the UN World Tourism Organisation.
Saudi Arabia led the G20 in terms of its increase in international arrivals, and was ranked the second growing tourist destination in the world during the first three quarters of 2023.
While the global tourism sector is still 12% below pre-pandemic levels, Saudi Arabia's growth reflects the Kingdom's efforts to bolster its position as a tourist destination within the MENA region, especially as it highlights destinations like AlUla, Diriyah, Abha and Yanbu, as well as major events like the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the slew of world-class concerts and sporting competitions throughout Riyadh Season.
