Dubai may soon house the world’s largest ocean restoration and ecotourism project. Dubbed Dubai Reefs, the project will include a floating living lab that will serve as a futuristic institute for scientists and researchers. Dubai Reefs will cover a 200 square kilometre area along Dubai’s coastline, creating a habitat for more than a billion corals and 100 million mangrove trees.

Dubia Reefs’ visitors will get to stay in floating eco resorts and lodges fully powered by renewable energy, to which they will be transported via electric boats. Visitors will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in relaxing activities amongst the lush forests, or attend classes at the Marine Institute to understand the ecosystem connecting them with the ocean.
