AZULIK is Opening a Luxury Eco-Resort in Ancient Saudi City of AlUla

Mexican hospitality brand AZULIK is set to launch a new luxury eco-resort in the ancient Saudi city of AlUla. The resort will be established in the Nabatean Horizon District, nestled in the canyons near the Al Nutadil Equestrian Village and the ancient valley Wadi El Fann.

Scheduled to open in 2027, the resort will be complete with a  spa, 76 luxury villas, a VIP club, reception lounges, all-day dining, and a museum.

The building itself has been designed by Roth Architecture, and will provide more than 300 new jobs once it’s up and running. As well as this, most materials, contractors, and operational supplies will be sourced from across the Kingdom in an effort to stimulate regional economic growth.

Designed to coexist in harmony with the natural landscape both visually and functionally, the architecture takes inspiration from the area’s sandstone cliffs. The resort will foster a connection with AlUla’s natural and human heritage, utilising nearby ancient rock inscriptions as well as employing a natural existing irrigation system to prevent floods.

“AZULIK AlUla is centred on the concept of sustainability and connection with the natural and human heritage surrounding this magnificent property,” John Northern, RCU Vice President of Hotels and Resorts, says. “Along with its proximity to the AlMutadil Equestrian Village and Wadi AlFann, both under development, this resort is one of several assets contributing to AlUla’s growth as a leading destination in line with our Journey Through Time master plan.”

The development will feature an all-electric transport system and no private vehicles will be permitted on the property. Additionally, horse and camel routes will be laid out as well as hiking trails so that guests can experience all that the natural surroundings have to offer.
