Bookings Open for Dream of the Desert Train Journeys in Saudi Arabia

Dream of the Desert has opened reservations for its first commercial journeys through northern Saudi Arabia, with departures scheduled to begin in October 2027. Revealed at World Travel Market London, the train will depart from Riyadh and is being positioned as the Kingdom’s first ultra-luxury rail experience of its kind.

In its first phase, Dream of the Desert will feature 24 Suite Cabins, a dedicated Restaurant Carriage and a Majlis Carriage inspired by Saudi traditions of gathering and hospitality. The onboard experience will combine private accommodation, dining and shared spaces, with a culinary programme drawing on regional flavours and traditions.

The inaugural collection includes two itineraries. ‘The Desert Kingdoms’ is a four-day, three-night journey through Al Jouf and Hail, including a gala dinner and performance at Marid Castle in Dumat Al-Jandal and a wilderness experience in the Aja Mountains featuring Arabian horses, poetry, music and storytelling.

‘Shadows of Aja’ is a three-day, two-night journey through Hail and Al Qassim. It includes a 4x4 excursion into the Aja Mountains, dinner beneath the open sky and astronomy-led storytelling, before continuing to Al Qassim for ‘The Oasis Table’, a farm-to-table experience centred on regional produce, Saudi coffee, dates and live cooking. Seasonal departures may also extend to the white salt landscapes of Al-Awshaziyah.

The collection is set to expand with a dedicated AlUla itinerary, while private journeys ranging from one-day experiences to multi-day departures will also be available. These include ‘The Signature Escape’, a one-day private journey, and ‘The Desert Odyssey’, a two-day, one-night experience in the Aja Mountains.

Prices start from SAR 86,250 per couple per suite for a two-night journey, including VAT, private accommodation, onboard and offboard dining and signature experiences.
