Diriyah Named Global Eco-Friendly Destination for 2025
Diriyah joins a select group of global eco-friendly destinations.

An emblem of Saudi Arabia’s cultural roots, Diriyah—the historic birthplace of the Saudi state just outside Riyadh—has been named one of the Global Eco-Friendly Destinations for 2025 by the Global Destination Sustainability Movement (GDSM).
This recognition marks a milestone for the Kingdom, with Diriyah becoming the first Saudi destination to be featured in the GDSM Index, which evaluates global cities and destinations on their commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sustainable economic growth.
The accolade follows a joint nomination by the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, spotlighting Diriyah’s integrated approach to heritage conservation, and positioning it among a select group of destinations globally.
