Egypt, Saudi & UAE Rank in World’s Best Beaches
Several Middle Eastern destinations appear in BeachAtlas’s top 100 beaches ranking.
The Golden Beach Awards for 2024 are in – and the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are all winners. This list, which was created by London-based BeachAtlas, ranks the world’s 100 best beaches. An AI algorithm was used to sort through the world’s beaches by examining 6 criteria, which took factors like lifestyle offerings, cultural significance, and inclusivity (not to mention jaw-dropping beauty, of course). The beaches that made it past this round were then judged by a panel of influencers and travel experts. The result? A curated list that makes booking your next flight ever so tempting. But you might not have to go far to find some of these vacation-worthy gems – several of them are right here in the Middle East.
The UAE’s JBR beach scored a place in the top 10 for its blend of city vibes and beachy relaxation. Ranked the eighth-best beach in the world, BeachAtlas highlighted JBR’s water sports, camel rides, golden sands and clear waters in their review of the Dubai spot, calling it a “must-visit” destination for those in the Emirate.
But JBR wasn’t the only Middle Eastern beach included on BeachAtlas’s list. Coming in at 41 is Saudi Arabia’s Umluj Beach. The white sand, soothing palms, and sparkling turquoise waters of this Red Sea destination earned it its spot on the list. Not only that, but the ecological diversity and natural beauty of this spot makes it a favorite for locals as well as visitors.
Not far behind Umluj Beach is Sharm El-Sheikh, a popular beach destination on the tip of the Sinai Peninsula. This Egyptian spot snagged the 69th place on BeachAtlas’s list. With great diving and vibrant coral reefs, BeachAtlas was quick to call the resort town a “sun seeker’s sanctuary."
If you’re still looking for your next vacation spot, BeachAtlas has 97 other places to choose from – but it’s nice to know that some of our favorite beaches are getting the recognition they deserve.
