The Oberoi Luxury Nile Cruisers have again been named the world's best river cruise line by Travel + Leisure USA, proving that intimate journeys still define luxury on the Nile.

There are cruises that dazzle with excess. Then, there are those that understand luxury rarely needs to announce itself. And if you've ever needed proof that the world's most discerning travellers still reward the latter, look no further than The Oberoi Luxury Nile Cruisers, gliding between Luxor and Aswan along one of the oldest travel routes on Earth. The sister ships, The Oberoi Zahra and The Oberoi Philae, with around 50 cabins and suites between them, have just been named the Best River Cruise Line in the World at Travel + Leisure USA's World's Best Awards 2026 for the second consecutive year.

Sailing the same amber-lit passage between Luxor and Aswan that has drawn travellers since the golden age of travel, both The Zahra and The Philae understand that the Nile does most of the entertaining. With whirlpool tubs tucked into suites, river-facing spas offering treatments infused with Egyptian honey, and menus that wander between Middle Eastern favourites and international classics, every detail is designed around one rare luxury: time. Time to watch palm-lined villages slip past the window, time to linger over dinner, time to let a 5,000-year-old landscape do the talking.

But the real luxury begins when the ship docks. Each party has its own Egyptologist and private driver for the entire voyage, so a conversation about a carved symbol at Karnak on day one can ripen into something richer by day four. And with private docking, guests can step onto the banks of the Nile without joining the usual procession of cruise crowds making their way toward Egypt’s most iconic monuments.

Travel + Leisure's readers, who cast their votes each year across hotels, airlines, cities, and cruises, are not easily charmed twice—yet both ships carry the kind of heritage that ages into elegance with every passing year. Timber floors, marble bathrooms, and hand-finished interiors sit alongside a service-style that has defined The Oberoi name since its earliest days in India, brought to the Nile and becoming a memory guests carry home long after the gangway has been raised.
