flydubai Resumes Direct Flights to Aleppo After 14 Years

Flydubai has launched flights to Aleppo, making it the airline's second destination in Syria after Damascus and restoring direct services to the city for the first time in 14 years.

The airline will operate a daily non-stop service between Dubai International Airport and Aleppo International Airport, expanding connectivity between the UAE and northern Syria.

The route is expected to benefit the more than 250,000 Syrians living in the UAE, particularly during the busy summer travel season. It complements flydubai's three daily flights to Damascus while offering a faster alternative to indirect journeys.

The launch comes as regional airlines continue expanding their operations in Syria following the ouster of former president Bashar Al Assad. Air Arabia added Aleppo to its network last month and already operates flights to Damascus from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Emirates resumed services between Dubai and Damascus in June 2025, while flydubai reinstated its Damascus route the same month.

Aleppo is the latest addition to flydubai's growing network, following the launch of services to Bangkok and Benghazi, with Pokhara in Nepal set to join the network in September 2026.

According to Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, demand for travel between the UAE and Syria has remained strong since flights to Damascus resumed in 2025. He said the addition of Aleppo reflects the airline's long-term commitment to the Syrian market while supporting trade, tourism and broader economic connectivity.
