Live Out Your Rugged Nomadic Dreams at Caravan in Saudi Arabia’s AlUla
This new glamping spot is inspired by the Bedouin nomads who travelled Saudi Arabia’s historic Incense Route.
There is an undeniable mystique in the desert road trip. Just get in your caravan and go out to the middle of nowhere, where nothing but an endless sea of sand dunes awaits. We're bringing sunglasses and camping equipment, and we're leaving the GPS behind so we can navigate by the stars, like rugged nomads who live and die by the desert sands. There's a sexy sort of uncertainty in that fantasy, the kind that promises nothing but boundless adventure, the wild howl of the wind in your hair, and intimate campfire dinners under an endless night sky.
Caravan by Habitas is a new glamping destination in AlUla, Saudi Arabia's historic city. Inspired by the Bedouin nomads who travelled the historic Incense Route, the hotel features 22 caravan rooms, each of which comes with a private outdoor deck and a beautiful view of AlUla's gorgeous canyons and date palm oasis. The charmingly robust exterior belies a luxurious interior, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a queen-sized bed, an indoor lounge, a private shower and bathroom, and a kitchenette. Outside, a central gathering tent ties the hotel together, offering a communal space for guests to connect over a meal or the hotel's outdoor cinema, with films projected on the side of a cliff.
You can be as rustic or as comfortable as you like - you can visit Caravan's three vibrant food trucks, each with their own quirky menus: a pink holographic ice cream truck, a mirrored pizza truck decked out with vintage signs, and a locally-inspired coffee and juice truck. Just a few minutes away, Tama Restaurant at Habitas AlUla offers a more regional experience, with a traditional decor, and dishes inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine using local, fresh ingredients, as well as spices that were once traded along the Incense Route.
The glamping experience will also accommodate a wide range of activities, from adventures like canyon crossing, desert trekking or Arabian horseback riding.
Room prices cost around SAR 1,500 per night.
