Saudi Arabia's USD five billion gigaproject, NEOM, has just revealed its plans for the world's first upside down skyscraper. Aquellum—an underground city resembling an "ultra-luxury upside-down skyscraper," is nestled within the majestic mountains along the Gulf of Aqaba coastline.

The renders showcase a hyper futuristic utopia; spanning an impressive 330 feet in height, this open-aired ecosystem will house an array of extravagant stores, mesmerising performance shows and awe-inspiring galleries. Despite being concealed within a towering mountain range of 1,500 feet, the city will be bathed in natural light and adorned with lush greenery, creating a harmonious blend between the man-made and the organic.

To access this hidden paradise, visitors will be whisked away from a floating marina and transported via an underground canal. Once inside, guests will be greeted by a 'digitalised community,' complete with visionary lounging areas and innovative hubs.

Aquellum's pièce de résistance, however, is 'The Generator,' a space designed to house scientists and researchers. Equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality laboratories, guests will be immersed in a mind-bending experience, donning VR glasses as they witness digitised light cubes gracefully dance across the open-air ecosystem.

Described as a "futuristic ecosystem harmoniously integrated into natural surroundings," Aquellum represents a bold leap into the future of architecture and experiential living.
