Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh Glows Up with New Expansion

2022 will see the fabulous Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh unveil dazzling developments cementing its position as one of the world’s most ravishing beach resorts.

Scene Traveller

Long before a crop of shiny new luxury resorts started popping up across Egypt (14 properties alone in 2021 and another 3,568 rooms planned for 2022) there was Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, a stalwart of sumptuous luxury on the shores of the Red Sea. Since its arrival on the seaside scene in 2002 there has never been a single beachside property that has come close to its finesse, discretion, and world-class service. There are countless amidst the jet-set cognoscenti who claim that this is one of their favourite Four Seasons in the world. High praise indeed. So with no competition to speak of, this resplendent resort has simply decided to one up itself. While others are trying to beat the best, they’ve beat themselves to the punch by building a sprawling and simply stunning extension to the resort. Well, extension is too clunky a word to do this new part of the already picture-perfect property justice. It’s more like a haute-hotel within the hotel, doubling the resort’s size from 54 acres to 110 acres of whimsy and wonder nestled between the resplendence of Sinai’s mountains and the shimmering coral-infused waters of the Red Sea.

The resort rooms have always been ravishing, and of course quality matters more than quantity - unless you can do both in style which is something Four Seasons are world-renowned for. With this dazzling addition comes 115 new rooms, bringing the total count up to 169 rooms and 146 remarkable suites and chalets, with beautiful views of the Red Sea and mountain dunes. Indeed with nine suite types, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh offers the largest collection of suites in all the land. Given how notoriously hard it is to get a booking at this ever-popular resort this should come as welcome news for luxury-holiday seekers.

Meanwhile the ‘expansion’ so to speak offers a succulent smorgasbord of new dining experiences. 12 to be exact, including Asian, Italian, Lebanese, Mediterranean as well as a Latin-American poolside restaurant and a wellness-inspired beach bar.

But now to the important part. Sun, sea and sand! Think two new outdoor pools - each prettier than the last - bringing the resort’s total to five oases of shimmering bliss interconnected by whimsical walkways and waterfalls amidst more than 3,000 Royal Palm trees and the vividly coloured bougainvillea that bloom wildly in Egypt. After a refreshing drip stroll down to the one kilometre of palm-fringed beachfront, grab yourself a snorkel and slip into an underwater world of Disney-esque proportions. The two house reefs - part of a protected reserve - are amongst the most vibrant in Sharm with the resort’s dive centre long acting as a siren call for aficionados with its access to 76 Red Sea dive sites. If you have a few days to spare, this is without doubt one of the most stunning spots in the world to take your Padi. Of course, this being Four Seasons there are more relaxing ways to enjoy the wonders of the Red Sea including private yachts for charter and unforgettable dolphin cruises.

Beyond the beachside glam and world-class luxury, the resort is also one of the best spots for families looking for unforgettable fun in the sun, with employees/team going the extra mile to accommodate their every whim (which of course makes it much harder back home when the kids start expecting you to also serve up surprise ice-lollies). This new part of the resort cranks things up yet another notch with an all-new sprawling kids club that includes dedicated activity areas, creative gaming and infant zones, spaces reserved for those hard to please pre-teens (and, dare we say it, teens) as well as a babysitting service. Drop the little ones off and go indulge in a truly sumptuous spa treatment (we won’t tell!) in the brand new spa featuring 13 specialized treatment rooms and a 22 metre outdoor lap pool.

Beyond those seeking a paradisal escape, the resort is practically made for dazzling destination weddings, from intimate affairs of 30 people to extravagant celebrations of up to 2000 guests. Meanwhile with Sharm fast becoming a go-to destination for global conferences, the resort has primed itself to welcome an influx of international movers with a 2000-person world-class convention centre that includes indoor and outdoor facilities designed to cater to the most demanding of power players.

So there you have it, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh has always been the most ravishing resort destination in Egypt, now with these new developments - set for completion in early 2022 - it’s setting a new global benchmark.
