Luxury Hotel Chain Okura to Open in Middle East for First Time in Oman
The interiors will offer an interesting fusion of Studio Ghibli and Aladdin, that’s for sure.
The Sultanate of Oman’s capital city, Muscat, will play host to global luxury hotel chain Okura Hotel’s first venture into the Middle East.
Okura Hotels was established in 1958 in Japan, and over the span of six decades, has grown in the global luxury hospitality market, with over 81 properties all around the world. What makes most Okura hotels breathtaking is their insistence on fusing their authentic Japanese style and architecture with those of whichever location they’re establishing their hotel in. Which is to say that the Okura Hotel in Oman’s Al Mouj area will be a seamless blend of Arab and Islamic architecture - all arching hallways and kaleidoscopic patterns - with minimalist Japanese Studio Ghibli-esque interiors.
The new hotel will offer 150 guest rooms, each with a standard area of approximately 50 square meters. The rooms will feature breathtaking views of the vast golf course of Al Mouj Golf, a world-renowned European Tour venue, and the Gulf of Oman. The lobby and other public spaces will be designed in a fusion of Omani and Japanese styles and traditions, and a variety of dining options will be available, including all-day dining, teppanyaki and other Japanese cuisine, and even western-style fine dining. The hotel will also offer seven banquet and meeting rooms, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and a gymnasium.
Located only ten minutes away from Muscat International Airport, the Okura hotel will be a sought-after hospitality destination once it opens its doors in 2027.
